The Latest Review of El Potrillo Mexican Restauraunt

What was once the best is now mediocre. El Potrillo on Jones Bridge Road had become a weekly ritual for my wife and so I tagged along. This place was once one of the most popular Mexican restaurants I had ever been to. While other Mexican restaurants just down the road were dead on a Friday or Saturday, you had to wait for a table at El Potrillo. The staff is always friendly and accommodating. The cheese dip (order it with jalapenos or don't order it at all) and guacamole was among the best in the city. But the real draw was the high octane margaritas. This place had the strongest frozen pitchers I have ever sampled. They didn't just add some tequila to the mix, they dumped it in. Alas, this is all in the past as the owner does not oversee the operations any more. He is taking care of his restaurant out of state leaving this location in desperate need of managerial leadership. Now, a customer must order supplemental shots to simulate the strength of what was once, the strongest margaritas around. I hope quality and value return to El Potrillo soon
